My current coffee hyper-fixation: the Einspanner latte. It’s a rich, decadent, and super creamy iced latte that hits the spot every time. This coffee drink originates from Vienna, Austria, and the word Einspänner means coachman or single-horse carriage, as coachman were drinking coffee at the time.
I discovered this latte at a local coffee shop, but can’t get myself to pay $8 each time I’m craving one. So let’s make it at home!
What you’ll need:
- Double shot of espresso
- 4 oz milk
- 3-4 oz heavy whipping cream
- 1-2 tsp sugar (depending on your sweetness liking)
- Cocoa powder
Steps you’ll take:
- Brew your double shot of espresso and place off to the side.
- Fill a glass cup with ice and pour in your milk of choice about halfway.
- In a small cup whip together the heavy whipping cream and sugar with a frother until you have soft peaks. You want it to be thick but still runny enough to pour.
- Pour half the cream mixture over the ice and sift over cocoa powder.
- Pour over the espresso shots and top off with the rest of the whipping cream. Sift cocoa powder to finish off the latte.
- Optional: sprinkle over flaky salt. Add syrup of choice to espresso shots for added flavor and sweetness.
- Enjoy!
This latte is not only beautiful and smooth, but it has the perfect hint of sweetness.
